Sea Forward 2024 Insights Report

We’re honored to share our very first Sea Forward Insights Report — a look into the outcomes, stories, and partnerships that helped shape a healthier, more regenerative ocean future in 2024.

This report marks an important milestone in our journey. The progress reflected in these pages is the result of a deeply committed community of funds, grantees, portfolio partners, collaborators, donors, and friends who believe, as we do, that a healthy ocean is essential to a livable planet. Your trust and partnership have shaped every step forward, and we’re incredibly thankful for the shared resolve and purpose that fuels this work.

Inside the Report, you’ll find highlights from 9 portfolio funds, 4 grantees, and 1 company, each rooted in scalable, science-driven approaches to restoring ecosystems, reimagining food systems, and building resilience in coastal communities. The funds featured represent a broad spectrum of maturity. Some are well-established with extensive impact data through 2025, while others are just beginning their journey, full of potential we’re excited to see unfold. Swipe through below or download the PDF here.

We’re especially grateful to Danielle Turner, Sea Forward's Ocean Impact Metrics Intern, whose thoughtful approach, precision, and care were instrumental in shaping this Report. Capturing the impact of the 200+ portfolio companies within our funds was a challenge Danielle was excited to tackle and her dedication brought clarity and depth to the insights we’re sharing.

To source and evaluate these insights, we leveraged the 1000 Ocean Startups’ Ocean Impact Navigator, a robust KPI framework that helps us track measurable outcomes across key sectors of the blue economy. It also helps us identify areas where we can broaden our reach to support even more diverse solutions in the future.

In 2025, we’re charting a path toward a more inclusive and accessible ocean impact investing space. Through our recent launch on CataCap, anyone can now become an ocean impact investor with as little as $250. You’ll have the autonomy to grant or reinvest returns — aligning your capital with your values and giving you more control and transparency around your investment.

We hope you find inspiration in this Report, and we thank you for standing with us to protect our ocean, the foundation of all life on Earth.

With gratitude,

Laura Francis and The Sea Forward Team
